DIY Network's Bill van Gilder

This week I had an opportunity to meet master potter Bill van Gilder. At age 15, Bill discovered his life's passion. Host of Throwing Clay on the DIY Network and author of Wheel Thrown Pottery, Bill demonstrated making functional pottery for the second annual Gulf Coast Clay Conference. His studio and retail gallery is located on the western slope of South Mountain in Central Maryland near Gathland State Park. Bill teaches at the Frederick (Maryland) Pottery School, which he founded, and he travels extensively to teach workshops on pottery and kiln building. Bill Clover, Jason Stokes and Stan Dark also gave pottery making demonstrations during the conference at Pensacola State College. For more information about the Kiln Walk Society and Anagama kiln opening click here.
